In our collaborative coworkingspace NI, we try our hardest to keep a check on happiness and wellbeing levels!
Here’s our mental wellbeing pledge to our coworkers and visitors:
“The Hub is determined to be a front runner in providing a successful and supportive coworkingspace in Newry.
To do this, The Hub aims to raise the awareness of many of the issues lone working presents, such as stress, loneliness, lack of networking, general well-being, and mental health.
Through initiatives and community activities, we strive to continually improve business growth and employment in our coworkingspace as well as the mental and social well-being of the people we work with.
Our weekly gatherings, and communications strategies let our residents and teams know what is going on in the community environment and ensures that there is something for everyone to get involved with. We always aim to include community groups and other businesses outside of The Hub Newry in our activities whether it be fundraising or green, ethical or sustainable projects and events.
We always work towards having a positive coworking environment, where people can work independently, while also having the support of like-minded peers. There is always someone to help in The Hub!”
Here at The Hub Newry, Northern Ireland we work hard to get the balance right as much as we can. Community and collaboration are massive aspects of our coworkingspace both within the office and outside with the local businesses and community groups.
Having recently completed a course on “Mental Wellbeing First Aid in the Workplace” and as a founding member of NewryThrives we realise more and more that our health and sanity are so important.
We all know “balance” is not always easy or consistent. Yes, we need to work to pay the bills and some of us are very passionate about our work but if your health is even slightly out of kilter, be it, emotional or physical then this can have a huge knock effect on productivity at work or happiness at home.
Arrange a weekly coffee & chat within the office, even just for 30 mins. Perhaps a monthly lunch / brunch / trip to pub or cafe. If you notice someone’s just not themselves then offer them 5 mins, just a shoulder, don’t ignore it, what if the tables were turned?
Diet & exercise are a big part so encourage things like a fruit bowl in the office, stick up little post its with healthy snack suggestions or even have a soup club / smoothie club or rota / weekly jaunt. how about bringing in your dog once a week?
