Social gathering for local software enthusiasts to chat about all things software related…including careers in Tech.
Who should attend?
Whether your a seasoned software craftsman or just starting out your journey in software…this gathering is targeted for everyone.
These nights are about building a software community in Newry. Knowledge sharing, building connections and having the craic is the entire point of the night.
Geeks, software professionals, academics, innovators, students, startups wannabes, product owners, investors and folks just curious in learning more about the craft of working with software are welcome. The more diverse the group the better!
So sign up, come along and ask to speak with your hosts Jonny or Joe to look after you! I promise you will leave the night a little bit smarter and inspired.
General theme for the evening will be on Coding Dojo, kick off @7.00ish:)
A coding workshop (coding kata) to help learn the tricks of the trade to hep build reliable software.
We have been using kata workshops as a method to teach, mentor, coach and practice these techniques.
During the workshop we will be demonstrating TDD, refactoring along with a few SOLID principles (see references below for more details)
Any level of programming experience is welcome, regardless if you are a coding guru or just you have an interest in learning how to program.
Short Intro presentation into the coding exercise – TDD and Refactoring
60 mins spent working on a simple coding exercise (in teams) to help demonstrate these practices.
On the night just take your laptop (and a plug)…
We will provide the coffee, cake and help.
