Deep dive into the flexible workspace – does your team work long hours or various timezones?
Are you or your team members in the right flexible workspace environment for their role in the business and that it fits them as individuals?
Consistently putting yourself and your team in their highest energy zone to be their happiest and most productive selves isn’t easy especially if you’re not all working in the same building or locations.
Working in the right flexible workspace can bring a lot of benefits and it can often stop the lonely feeling of isolation that can happen when working from home or sometimes when you’re in the wrong office environment. There are some things to think about in matching your team to the right workspace.
What are the key considerations if you or your team member works long hours / has to cover various timezones?
Hours of work – do the hours that your team are contracted to work match with the operating hours of the flexible workspace? You want your colleagues to feel safe, comfortable and to be able to work away happily without worrying….
Most of the larger town & city spaces will have 24 / 7 access but just check especially with the smaller, more rural spaces. You might find that there is a workspace with similar business and that there are several people working the same hours especially if there are other financial based businesses there.
- Lone working – if they are going to be working late evenings / early mornings for example then make sure that the spaces have a ‘lone working policy’, access to panic attack alarms, a close contact to call in an emergency and procedures for what to do in an emergency
- Security – is there cctv, access control systems, intruder alarms etc, security protocols in place?
- Health & Safety – does the workspace operator comply with building regulations, fire procedures, have a health & safety policy, guidelines, fore wardens etc and has your team member had a health & safety induction?
Are you considering implementing a more ‘hybrid, flexible or remote working model’ for your business or have you already started to roll this out and would like some tips on positioning and keeping your team highly motivated, productive and thriving? There are a number of things you can consider especially when researching to identify the right flexible workspaces for your team’s optimum happiness and productivity.
