Writers block can sometimes kick in, surely it can’t be that difficult to come up with different blogging ideas and topics to write about? In theory it should be relatively straightforward given the variety of businesses, members and happenings here, however, it can be easier said than done.

There are constantly new learning experiences here at the Hub – trying to increase google rankings via S.E.O (Search Engine Optimisation), the constant evolution of the platforms for promotion, new algorithms & linking back to the main website. We also have to make sure that we get the right mix of social media, newsletters, blogs versus traditional media.

So why is creating a relevant, interesting & entertaining content and using various marketing platforms so important for a coworking space?

  • Members and community are a coworking space’s most important gift and their free, independent and sometimes radical thinking lends itself to trying hard to replicate and share those thoughts and practices further afield. 
  • Relevant, topical content increases the opportunity to attract new members and to network. It actually enables us to publicise the concept of “what coworking is” – not everyone is aware that a flexible, shared business community environment is available and that we have a miriad of flexible working arrangements on offer.

  • The very nature of coworking enables people from all geographies, ages, backgrounds, industry sectors to make use of coworking facilities and community and therefore it’s crucial to use the correct social media and marketing platforms to reach these current and potential coworkers. It’s vital to understand your members, try and replicate the demographics.For instance LinkedIn may be used for professionals to discuss current industry related topics, wheres Instagram is a great marketing tool to publicise community events that may be happening through the use of posting images.
  • If you’re doing your marketing correctly then the response should determine which of your membership facilities are being welcomed and which are not so popular, often the engagement will also suggest new ideas!
  • Great content should be shared with other coworking spaces enabling collaboration and partnering through shared membership, shared practices.

The benefits of having a cohesive social media and marketing strategy include, free promotion, the ability to reach a wide audience, no location limitation, and allows feedback and interaction. 

Content creation involves offering compelling, contextual, consistent topics and posts to a targeted audience. Identifying and understanding the intended audience, resonating and focusing social media content towards them all helps create an authentic message, instead of generic material with no clear intent.

With the Hub opening two new sites in the very near future, events & hospitality shall feature heavily as the business moves forward. Promotion of these events will take place through all the Hub’s social media platforms, so keep an eye out for exciting events & blogs!
